GRANT j Clarence' (Tabby) Grant, who has been one of the Democratic party workers for years, won the unanimous unani-mous nominotion for county clerk at the Democratic Convention at Lehi Saturday. He was given a majority ma-jority vote of 289 over N. Alma Peterson, Pet-erson, Provo, and Golden R. Wald-ron, Wald-ron, Spanish Fork, which was then made unanimous. Bishop Joseph H- Storrs nominated "Tabby" and highly praised his work for the party. Mr. Grant is 36 years of age. He was born, raised and educated in this city being a member of one of the community's pioneer families. He has always been an energetic civic and church worker- He was president of the American Fork Lions club one term, secretary and chairman of the Democratic organi- j zation and for the past two years has acted as County Democratic secretary under H- M. Woodward. He. together with his side-kick, Ray (Bun) Shelley, has campaigned since President Wilson's term, both in the county and in every part of the state. He has held numerous church offices and at the present : time is Stake M- M. I. A- superintendent. superin-tendent. I His work for the past twelve years as local agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance company has given him wide experience in salesmanship, salesman-ship, accounting and in meeting people, which is the needed qualifi- cation for the clerk's positon- lvn. Grant's Democratic backers and his wide circle of friends are confident that he will be elected to this county coun-ty position, and wish him success in his endeavor- |
