Show Legion Building i Dedication Nears Flans are rapidly maturing for the ; official dedication services of the new American Legion building which recently was completed in this city. The structure represents unselfish and untiring efforts on the part of a handful of men and women of this city who for years pa.st have strug- ' gled to erect to the memory of their ' "buddies" in the World War a suitable suit-able memorial as well as provide a ' place in which members of the three organizations, the American Legion, the Service Star Legion and the more recently organized Ladies Auxiliary Auxi-liary to the Legion could meet. Tire aid of the city fathers was 1 enlisted and each year as the city budget was drawn a small amount ! ; was set aside to aid in the project. , The old building from which the s new structure has emerged was pur-8 pur-8 chased and for a while the project I was at a standstill, until P. W. A. j , funds made possible its completion J and today the city boasts one of the finest Legion halls in the state, pleasing to the eye in every detail j and filling a need in the community. The services of Glen Wright, arch- itect, were enlisted, and Mr. Wright drew up the plans and personally supervised the erection of the building. build-ing. The exterior is of rough finish in a buff shade and the ground to the north and east have been planted plant-ed to lawn with a cement walk in vari-colored blocks extending around the building. There are two entrances, one from the north and one from the east. Over the east entrance there will be a big hgnt bearing the Legion Post's number and emblem. Tire interior of the building presents pre-sents a very pleasing appearance and its practicability is at once apparent. appar-ent. There is the main room finished finish-ed in a rough plaster effect in subdued sub-dued tones of cream, buff and green. The wood work of the building is stained oak. Four large especially designed chandalier lights are suspended su-spended from the ceiling of the main room and eleven smaller ngnus m wall bracket style of the same modernistic design supplement the lighting system. The lighting also is arranged to fit in with the Legion ceremonies. Three pairs of casement windows having diamond shape panes are on the north wall of the main room. The west end of the building is taken up with a small stage with disappearing disap-pearing foot lights. On the left side of the stage is a small office for the American Legion and on the right an office for the Ladies Auxiliary ana the Service Star Legion. There are large French doors on the west wall. To the left and right of the stage provisions are made for loud speakers speak-ers when a radio is installed. The large service flag which since the World war has hung in the auditorium audi-torium of the city hall has now been permanently placed on the south wall of the building and on the east wall has been provided a cabinet to store the war trophies allotted this city. Arrangements have been made, when finances permit for the installation install-ation of a motion picture machine. Underneath the building is a basement base-ment in which a furnace is to be installed. The east. end of the building is occupied by a hallway which separates sepa-rates the kitchen on the north side from the ladies and gents rest rooms on the south. The kitchen will be the envy of many a housewife being be-ing all that modern skill can do to facilitate the preparation of meals. A tiled cabinet with sink built in extends around the north and east wall. Arrangements have been made for either gas or electric ranges. In the ladies ana gents aressuig u are large stationary mirrors and rows of hooks to take care of outer apparel. All in all the building is one of which the citizens may be proud. The date of the dedication could not be definitely set due to arrangements arrange-ments which were pending with officials of the American Legion, Service Star Legion and Ladies Auxiliary from various parts of the state who will be invited to partici- pate in the opening ceremonies, states the local commander, J.
