Show Leaders Outline Spring Program For Recreation With activities planned for adults, young people and children, the American Fork recreation workers will launch a spring recreation program pro-gram in the near future. The big events for children will be marble and hop-scotch tournaments, tourna-ments, which will be run off to determine de-termine the champions in these games in the Third to Sixth grades of the school here. First and second sec-ond places will be declared in each grade, and the grade champions will compete in the county tournaments at Provo, on April 15. The marble tournament, under direction of John Abel and Alonzo Rhodes; and the hop-scotch contests, con-tests, under direction of Mrs. Inez McDonald, are expected to get under un-der way soon. Many beautiful and interesting articles ar-ticles made by adults in the handcraft hand-craft classes will be shown at an exhibit to be held April 14 and 15. Mrs. Ellen Tracy and Mrs. Hazel Wimmer, who are directing the exhibit, ex-hibit, are collecting handcraft articles arti-cles and urge all who wish to exhibit their work to submit it before the middle of April. . S'of tball leagues for men and women wo-men are being planned by Leo Nelson Nel-son and Miss Lou Groesbeck, respectively. re-spectively. All who wish to enter this sport are invited to contact these leaders. A bicycle club for women also is being organized. The spring activities will close about April 15, to enable the recreation recrea-tion workers to attend a regular University of Utah school in recreation. recrea-tion. Courses to be taken up during the month include swimming, dramatics, dra-matics, music, arts and crafts, principles prin-ciples of recreation, theory and organization or-ganization of recreation, dancing, puppetry, and games and sports. Periods for games and athletics, which are being successfully conducted con-ducted for men and boys, will not close on April 15, Leo Nelson, supervisor, sup-ervisor, announced. The men's group meets on Mondays at 7:30 p. m., the young men's, at 8 p. m. Thursdays; and boys' under the Seventh grade, at 2 p. m. Saturdays, at the high school. These classes will continue as usual. |
