Show VIKING SAGA . . . Music and Culture The cultural values of good music were forcibly demonstrated during the B. Y. U. orchestra concert in our auditorium Monday night. The large audience ranged in age from eight years to nearly eighty, but the rapt and appreciative attention of all listeners was decisive evidence that music really speaks a universal language. The value of such a program-to the community is inestimable. inestima-ble. We need more programs of this kind. The Parent-Teachers' Association Asso-ciation is to be complimented for their efforts in bringing such a fine musical entertainment to our school. Principal Karl Banks Mr. Kay, representative of the state Fish and Game department, presented an assembly to the students stu-dents of Pleasant Grove high school, Tuesday, March 28, on "Preservation "Preserva-tion of Wild Life In Utah." Many facts about bird-life were brought forth in the picture show. Beth Freeman Symphony Concert Students and patrons of Pleasant Grove enjoyed the music of the B. Y. U. symphony orchestra Monday night in the high school auditorium. This is one of the entertainments sponsored by the P.-T.A. of Pleasant Grove. Professor LeRoy Roberts is director direc-tor of the group of students from the university, some of whom are former members of our high school. "The Introduction", "Feude", from the Messiah, "Old Folks At Home" and others were played by the entire group. The quartet played play-ed four numbers, and solos from students finished a evening of delightful de-lightful and wholesome entertainment. entertain-ment. Beth Freeman j Speech Contest Members of the speech and debating debat-ing department will vie for honors Monday, April 3, in the speech contest con-test in the high school auditorium. Students from our school stated that they had plenty of fun and that these dances help them to get acquainted with students of the other schools. Betty Newman "Parents and Pigtails" The presentation of "Parents and Pigtails" March 24-25 was further proof of the abundant talent found in the Senior class as well as the school. Zola Kirk's portrayal of Mr. Robinson and Miss Henderson's direction di-rection was outstanding.
