Mrs. Webb Brown and three children, and Mrs. Brown's mother, Mrs. Clarence A. .Breslin of San Bernardino, California, are spending the week here with Mrs. Lillian K. Brown and family. Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte and Mrs. M. H- Ingersoll visited in SpringviUe Tuesday evening with Mrs. Mary Findley. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Marrott are the happy parents of a winsome baby girl, born Thursday, August 26th, in the Lehi hospital. The mother, formerly Miss Thelma Var-ney, Var-ney, and babe are doing nicely. The regular monthly free clinic provided for the examination of children of pre-school age will be held next Wednesday, September 5, between 2 and 4 p. m. in the city hall. Dr. P. R. Bowdish of the county health department will be in charge and make the examinations. It is advisable for children who are entering school for the first time this fall to be examined that defects that exist might be corrected and the child placed in good physical condition. Am. Miss Lois Greenwood returned home the first of the week after spending the past month in Los Angeles with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Dailey. Adelbert Duncan is here visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. "Wm. E. Duncan. Mrs. Hugh Cheever, Mrs. Charles Richards and daughter of Malad, Idaho, returned home Thursday after spending a week here "with Mrs. Ann Cheever and Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Gaisford. Mrs. L. J. Batchelor of Salt Lake spent the latter part of the week here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Olsen. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Nichols of Riverton also were week-end guests here of Mrs. Nichols' Nich-ols' parents. Miss Selma Seastrand has returned re-turned after spending two months in Los Angeles, where she visited with several relatives and a number num-ber of friends residing there. With Miss Seastrand on her visit to the coast was a cousin, Miss Edith Kinkier Kink-ier of Sandy. John Jacklin's birthday Sunday was the occasion for a family gathering gath-ering and Ijirtfeday dinner at the Jacklin home. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jacklin, and son, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Tracy i and three children, and the immediate im-mediate members of the Jacklin family of this city; Mr. and Mi. George Jacklin of Linden; Mrs. C, L. Jesson and children of Kingston. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphries returned re-turned Monday from a week's trip which included a visit at Ivanpah, California, with Mr. and Mrs. Pelt Golden, a trip to the Boulder Dam, Boulder City, the Grand canyon, Zions and Bryce's canyons and Puffer's Puf-fer's Lake. The marriage of Miss Lucile McAllister Mc-Allister and Loren W. Goates which I took place last Friday has been the t motif for several social affairs. Monday Mon-day night Mr. and Mrs. A. D. McAllister, Mc-Allister, parents of the bride entertained enter-tained at a lawn party, the guests being close relatives of the young couple, residing here, in Lehi and Salt Lake. About 40 were present. Games were enjoyed followed by the serving of a dainty lunch. Wednesday night, Mrs. George Moss entertained at a miscellaneous shower, at which 20 were present. Monte Carlo Whist was played, Miss Mabel Huggard winning the prize for high score. Mrs. Goates was awarded the prize for making the cleverest miniature bride. A delicious delici-ous lunch was served. Thursday afternoon at Lehi, Mrs. A. B. Anderson, aunt .of Mr. Goates, gave a shower party, to which a number of American Fork relatives were bidden. The young couple wera married in Las Vegas, but will reside in Los Angeles-Miss Angeles-Miss Catherine Lee, daughter ,of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lee, cele- brated her tenth birthday last! Friday by having a party in the afternoon at her home. Twenty-eight Twenty-eight little friends were present and all enjoyed playing games of various kinds following which Mrs. Lee served a dainty lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holmstead, Dr. and Mrs. V. F. Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sykes, Dr. and Mrs. James Chadwick returned Monday from a fishing trip to Fish Lake. Dr. Chadwick Chad-wick and Mr. Sykes were very fortunate for-tunate in catching nearly their limit the first day out on the lake, the doctor's catch being an 8 pound mackinaw and Mr. Sykes' an 8 pound rainbow trout, Mr. and Mrs. :William J. Smith, 46, of Pleasant Grove, died at his home early Monday Mon-day morning following a week's illness. ill-ness. Mr. Smith is a brother of Mrs. S. T. Shelley of this city. For seventeen years he was employed by the Pleasant Grove Canning Co. as a foreman. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie Thorne Smith, four sons and two daughters. Funeral Fun-eral services were held in Pleasant Grove tabernacle Wednesday afternoon after-noon and interment was made in the cemetery there. Mr. and Mrs. Shelley Shel-ley and family and a number of other oth-er relatives and friends from here w'ere in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
