Show Stake Fathers-Sons Fathers-Sons Banquet Great Success A largo percentage of the 550 fathers and sons who participated ,at the annual banquet Wednesday evening pronounce it the most suc- 'vpfl ,athers and 50113 gathering yet held hi this stake. The crowd was fully as large as ever attended any previous like event here, the meal, prepared and served by the Old Folks committee was the best yet and the program was highly interesting to both fathers fath-ers and sons. Financially the undertaking under-taking was a complete success as the 1934 stake Boy Scout fund was raised rais-ed from the purchase of plates at the banquet. All food was donated by the various wards, and prepared without cost by the committee and local concerns. ! The large crowd assembled short-lly short-lly before 7 p. m. in the tabernacle ! and all were seated at once in the basement. The meal was quickly and orderly served and when over the crowd again assembled in the Tabernacle auditorium for the program. pro-gram. A real treat awaited them here. Oscar A. Kirkham, nationally re-nouned re-nouned scout worker, reviewed the 1933 trip to Hungary with the U. S. scout troup and the international jamboree they attended. He held the audience spellbound during his I entire review. Following this Major Schoof a Canadian scout, gave some interesting interest-ing narations of his life as a scout and especially as a soldier in South Africa. He is a man of. 69, hail and hearty and attributes his long active life to abstenance from the use of tobacco and liquor. The fathers chorus, sons chorus and two numbers by Master Gerald, accompanied by his talented mother, moth-er, Mrs. E. A. Maxfield, comprised the musical program. S. L. Chip-man Chip-man acted as chairman with President Presi-dent C. E. Young giving a short talk. ! 0 . |
