Werner and Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Robinson spent last Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake, guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Heiselt, formerly of this city. Mrs. M. H. Ingersoll left Wednesday Wednes-day for Chicago to attend the World's fair. She went with a party from Salt Lake and will be away at least two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Condor, Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Peay, who were married Thursday, left that afternoon after-noon from Salt Lake on a short honeymoon trip. They refused to divulge their plans for the trip in order to outwit friends who had "other plans," but will be back by the fir.it of next week. Mrs. Dave Csnder, Mrs. Will Con-der Con-der and Mrs. Alma Earl were among the guests Wednesday afternoon at a shower given by Mrs. J. W. Gillman of Orem in honor of her daughter, Rhea, a bride of this week. There were sixty present. A wedding reception re-ception will be given at the Gillma.n home next Wednesday night. E. Ray Gardner, seminary principal, princi-pal, went to Salt Lake Thursday where for five weeks he will be in attendance at a special session of summer school for Church Seminary teachers of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. Mrs. Gardner accompanied her husband to Salt Lake. Prof. G. W. Fitzroy of the B. Y. TJ. Music faculty has resumed his summer sum-mer teaching at the home of Mr. Ben Moffett. This is Prof. Fitzroy's eighth summer in American Fork. He will be pleased to meet both his old and new students at the above mentioned place each Friday afternoon, after-noon, adv. Miss Mildred Carlson and Miss Fern Carlson of Pleasant Grove have been guests here for a week of Miss Maxine Richins. Second Ward Budget , Entertain- ment next Friday, June 22nd, in Firmage Hall the budget system of the Second ward will sponsor another an-other program. There will be two numbers by the Scout Band under the leadership of Ferren Sager, two one-act plays read by Mrs. Helen C. Dixon of Provo, and a dance number between the plays. All holding season sea-son tickets are urged to be present by 8 o'clock and all others will be welcome for a small admission fee. The Junior Literary League met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Wilted Cleghorn. The first of the series of educational programs out- lined by the program committee of i the league was given. Mrs. Ross Buckwalter gave a very interesting and instructive talk on "Influence of Environment in .the Development of Types of Music" especially the negro spirituals and illustrating the types of. negro music, Mrs. Philip Greene rendered several vocal selections. There were seventeen members in attendance. The next meeting win be held Monday night, June 25fch, at the home of Mrs. Rulon Nicholes with Mrs. Kenneth Noyes in charge of the program which will stress the type of Indian music, and the customs cus-toms of this race. Mrs. Wilson Cunningham, vice president of the League was in charge Monday night. |
