Show Anthrax Outbreak Takes More Cattle Here A slight outbreak of anthrax here recently has caused some alarm among stock owners and during the past week a number of horses and sows have been vaccinated to prevent pre-vent the spread of this dreaded disease. Recently Mayor Wm. g. Storrs lost a valued mare. He saw the animal in the field feeling apparently well and Monday morning found her dead. A blood test revealed the animal had died of anthrox and Mayor Storrs immediately summoned sum-moned Dr. Spaulding of Provo, veterinarian vet-erinarian who vaccinated all the Storrs horses and cows, as well as a number of others in the community, about fifty head in all. Tuesday Dr. Spaulding was in American Fork and vaccinated another 75 head of stock. A horse belonging to John Hatch died also and anthrox was suspected. A report of the blood test was not available at this time. It is understood under-stood there has been an anthrox outbreak out-break farther south in the county, especially in Spanish Fork canyon. Stockmen are urged to be on the safe side and have their horses and cattle vaccinated, especially stock which is turned into the low pastures. pas-tures. The cost is 37UC a head, 75c for two. |
