Show , o : C.C. C. News The Round Robin Softball Tournament Tour-nament is now under way with five teams participating at Camp F-6, Soapstone. The prize for the final winners has not yet been announced. announc-ed. Interest is running high for this sport, with the games well attended at-tended and enjoyed. Supervisor James E. Gurr was in the Uintah Mountains most of last week. During Friday and Saturday he came into the vicinity of Mirror Lake. Mrs. Gurr accompanied the Supervisor going up Wolf Creek, across the Granddaddy Lakes region and out onto the vicinity of Mirror Lake. The Supervisor was examining examin-ing and studying conditions on the forest. Foreman George McMillan has been confined to his home at Pleasant Grove for the past week with influenza. It is reported that his condition is gradually improving. Mr. McMillan has been in charge of blasting work on the Provo River-Haydens River-Haydens Fork road. Enrollee Driver Harry Hartman recently was commended by officials of the State Road Commission for his driving while in the canyon. Aware of the dangers of many of the sharp curves down the canyon, Hortman stopped well in the clear of a particularly bad curve to allow a car to pass from the opposite direction. di-rection. The car carried members of the State Road Commission who took his name, camp address, and reported favorably of his driving to highsr authorities. Hartman is the only driver in camp at present who holds a Certificate of Proficiency for driving. He was issued this citation cita-tion a month ago, for having driven 25,000 miles without accident. Engineer Roskelly and Jat Allred are using saddle horses during the present Lake Survey. A camp mover mov-er and horse tender accompanies them over their route of surveying lakes on the forest. It is expected that many weeks will be required to work into shape their notes, after the lakes are surveyed. They are photographing the many lakes of the forest. It is expected that soon another trip will be made to the southern part of the state for more fish plants. The second trip will probably prob-ably be made to Panguitch lake. The plants from Fish Lake are now planted in Mirror Lake. Fertilization Fertiliza-tion of Mirror Lake is steadily progressing. |
