Show School Operetta ! Great Success CThe toys of an ingenious toymaker f came to life to frolic while their master dreamed of his princess in the operetta "The Toymaker" presented pre-sented Wednesday by the members """" of the Junior High School. ' Stealing their way right into the hearts of everyone present, these young people peo-ple were acclaimed a real success, flf Indeed they may well be proud to jUi' have brought such joy as was felt ly their parents and those with 1'U whom they worked in putting over the operetta. Miss Helen Adamson as the beau-tiful beau-tiful young princess who won the fancy of the toymaker, was able to ..; --r cany her part through all difficulties difficul-ties as the real trooper she is. Of course the wooden soldier nearly . stole the show when he was the toy yki chosen by the princess. Darrel ,1 Rhodes was very good in this role. Miss Meriam Young was the other BOtS soldier. -j. Lynn Cameron, the toymaker, who 'J, triumphs over the bullying of his mother, won the love and hand of (V the princess. Miss Donna Cleghorn, 0 l)k the mother, played a very difficult -qt role in an excellent manner.: , Other characters taking leading g( I Parts were, Reece Chadburn as the emperor and father of the princess, gv'S Nash Grant the little prince in 'hoes hands lay the fate of his sis-11 sis-11 ''' ' ter, her hand having been promised K to the toymaker able to furnish a toy to suit his fancy best. The best l-f- doll, rag doll and clown were played fflflf: ty Charlotte Chipman, Irene; Shelley ' and Grant Nielsen. Each carried j; his part in a comprable way.; , The chorus of toys, ladies and nobles in attendance to the emperor ,k Eave the background story1 adding Tip lor to the entire production. The " ft'gh school orchestra accompanied Jji the chorus. Mr. Bird was director of the op-, op-, ut eretta and should be highly compli-mented compli-mented in his success in such an ftfi'l e'aborate presentation using the I younger people of the school. Miss yjp rn Smoot, the drama instructor and Miss Mary Bassiinger, dance di-i di-i rector, are also to be commended on f A their work in directing parts of the y operetta. a |
