Show Mrs. Kenneth Robinson spent the forepart of the week with her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Evans, in Salt Lake. I i The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Beck in Alpine is ill with pneumonia. Lawrence Clyde left Friday for Detroit, Michigan, on a business trip. He will be gone two weeks. j Mrs. Sadie Henry of Salt Lake 1 City spent Sunday visiting at the home of Mr. -and Mrs. Ernest Hind-ley. Hind-ley. A. W. Mr. and Mrs. Lennis Abel left last j Friday for their home in Huntington Hunting-ton Park, California, after spending the holidays here with Mrs. Abel's parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Bird.' Mrs. William Thornton and daughter, daugh-ter, Virginia, arrived home Sunday night, after enjoying a two week's visit during the holidays with Mrs. Allan Pierson and family. They report re-port an enjoyable trip. A neighborhood party was held at the home of Mrs. Irene Meecham Friday afternoon. The ladies enjoy- i ed a variety of lively games and a program. A delicious supper was served to thirty guests. Mr. and Mrs. Erin Bigler and Mrs. Martha Buckwalter left the forepart of the week for California after a short visit with relatives here. Mrs. Pearl Ball left Sunday for Salt Lake to spend a few days visiting visit-ing friends and relatives. Mrs. Ball leaves today for her home in San Diego after spending the past two weeks here with her mother, Mrs. Rose H. Grant. Bernyce and Mildred Chinman were hostesses at a shower given at the Chipman home Thursday evening, eve-ning, January 3, in honor of Mi's. Frank Taylor, who before her marriage mar-riage was Miss Phyllis Chipman of this city. The evening was spent in playing games. Prizes were won by Miss Ellen Binns and Miss Bessie Kelly. Am. Fork Locals Mi.ss Mildred Chipman left last Friday for an extended visit with relatives in Huntington Park, California. Cali-fornia. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Smith and three sons, George, Lyman and Earl, and Henry Boley have returned home after an enjoyable three weeks visit in California with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Angel and Mr. and Mrs. Helga Samuelson of Salt Lake are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Pratt today (Friday). (Fri-day). Dr. and Mrs. Houston attended a meeting of the Utah County Medical Society at the Hotel Roberts in Provo "Wednesday evening. After the dinner din-ner was served the ladies auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Garn Clark, where a program and social was enjoyed. en-joyed. Mrs. Laurence Briggs entertained the members of the Sorosis Club and several special guests at her home Wednesday afternoon. Bridge was the main diversion, followed by the serving of a delicious lunch. Bouquets Bou-quets of sweet peas centered the small luncheon tables, accentuating the decorative scheme of pink. There were twenty-four present and the special guests were Mesdames G. A. Anderson, Elmer Bate, W. R. Halli-day Halli-day and Sidney Nicholes, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Welling of , Garland, visited here Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Kirk-ham Kirk-ham at the Ernest Hindley home. Mr. Welling was former president of the North Central states mission. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Kirk-ham Kirk-ham were guests of honor at a party given Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Brown in Lehi. The members of the Stake Board M. I. A. held a joint board meeting and social Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. M. H. Ingersoll. Following the business meeting, social soc-ial diversions were enjoyed and delicious, de-licious, refreshments served. Partners Part-ners of the board members were also in attendance. During the meeting President Clifford E. Young gave a talk to members of the board. . The son of Mr.' and Mrs. Oscar i Hansen suffered a broken elbow j Tuesday night. The injury was tak- j en care of by Dr. Kenneth Noyes. i i i Mrs. Lon Smith is in Draper assist- ing in nursing her twin grandsons, who are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott j Smith, and who have been quite ill i with pneumonia but are now im- j proving. i Mrs. Byron Crookston left Tues- day for a week's visit in Spring ! Canyon with Miss Lenore Crooks-ton. Crooks-ton. Mrs. E. S. Goddard and Miss Venice Ven-ice Goddard of Provo, were guests of Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte on Tuesday. Mrs. Goddard is Mrs. Aydelotte's mother. Miss Naomi Gaisford, who is attending at-tending school in Salt Lake, spent the week-end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford, Jr. Her dinner guests on Sunday were Miss June Holmstead of this city, Miss Aricka Daws and Spencer Coleman Cole-man of Salt Lake. The officers and teachers of the First ward M. I. A. were entertained at the home of Mrs. Afton Steiner Monday evening. The regular business busi-ness meeting was held, followed by social activities, at the close of which tasty refreshments were served. Twenty-two officers and teachers were in attendance. The lady firemen met at the home of Mrs. Clara Chadwick Wednesday afternoon for their regular meeting. After the meeting dainty refresh- ments were served. In attendance i were Mrs. Raymond Jacklin, Mrs. Vera Thompson, Mrs. I. L. Pratt, Mrs. LaDrue Varney and Mrs. Chadwick. Chad-wick. Their next regular meeting will be held the second Wednesday in February in the local fire station. . Delbert Greenwood of the Iowa State college of Ames, Iowa, visited in American Fork with his parents, Mr. and' Mrs. T. A. Greenwood and with relatives in Midvale and Salt Lake during the holidays. He returned re-turned to Iowa on Monday of iast week. Mr. Greenwood is teaching and is doing research work part time at the Iowa State college. He expects ex-pects to take out his Master's degree in the spring. The officers and teachers of the Second ward M. I. A. were entertained entertain-ed at the home of Mrs. Lillian Booth Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting and sociaL After the business was taken up, a social was enjoyed. Five tables of rook were played, Mrs. Eldon Chipman winning the nigh score prize. A delicious de-licious luncheon was served. Hostesses Hos-tesses were Mrs. Lillian Booth, Mrs. David Taylor, Mrs. J. B. Stewart and Mrs. Phillip Greene. I Mrs. Lawrence Briggs was hostess to members of the Sorcsis club at her home Wednesday afternoon. Six tables of bridge were in progression during the afternoon, the prize being awarded to Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte. The room decorations were carried out in pink, green and yellow and the table was centered with sweet peas. A dainty luncheon was served. Special guests in attendance were . Mrs. G. A. Veterans hospital, Salt Lake, receiving medical treatment preparatory prepar-atory to an operation-Will operation-Will Wright of Twin Fails, Idaho, spent the forepart of the week here visiting with 'his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wright. Mrs. Alvin Carlson of Salt Lake and Mrs. J. Sanford Walker of Pleasant Grove, spent Tuesday visiting visit-ing with Mrs. S. T. Shelley at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Ruper of Provo, spent Wednesday and Thursday Thurs-day in American Fork visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Moral D. Steele. Mrs. Ruper is Mrs. Steele's sister. Miss Lucile Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Walker, was honored at a gay surprise party at her home Monday evening, the occasion oc-casion being her fourteenth birthday ! anniversary. The playing of "Stung"' j was the main diversion, after which j delicious refreshments were served, j Fourteen friends were present. Although no ceremony was carried car-ried out Monday at noon, Irving L. Pratt officially became the Precinct Justice and Frank Hunter the Precinct Pre-cinct Constable. Mr- Hunter was named to replace Lenard'. Jackson, elected last November, but who resigned. re-signed. ' Mrs. S. T. Shelley is entertaining members of the Bee Orchis club at her home this afternoon (Friday). Mrs. Merling D. Clyde will give a summary of the collection of her own poems. Luncheon will be served serv-ed later in the afternoon. Besides members of the club special guests are Mrs. J. Sanford Walker of Pleasant Grove, Mrs. June S. Wright, Mrs. Hannah Goodal and Mrs. Merling Mer-ling D. Clyde. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. . Culbertson entertained en-tertained at a birthday party at their home in Provo. Wednesday, the event honoring the birthday of Mr. and Mrs. Culbertson and little daughter, Louise. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Kirkham and little daughter, Rae Mona, from this city attended the affair. |
