Show Keep Poultry Growing With Nourishing Feeds Low prices for poultry products are largely responsible for the tendency ten-dency on the part of chicken and turkey growers to "let down" on the feeding of proper growing rations ra-tions for the young chickens and poults even though the market value of feeds Is low, says O. C. Ufford, extension poultryman at the Colorado Agricultural college. Such a practice is poor economy and will result in underfed pullets going into the laying houses this fall. They will start laying later than normal and when laying starts they will break under the strain of heavy production. With poults that are being forced to range for all their food, an over-diet of grasshoppers and other oth-er feeds they can pick up is not conducive to the best development and growth. Minerals in the form of bonemeal and green feeds and water are important im-portant parts of the growing ration ra-tion and play a big part In the health and normal growth of the young birds. |
