Mr. and Mrs. WUlard Cleghorn with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bates of Alpine, Al-pine, left Thursday of last week on a trip to Yellowstone Park. They expected to be away about a week. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Pratt and famUy of Hinckley spent Sunday in American Fork, guests at the R. L. Ashby home. Mrs. Edwin R. Kimball and children of Sandy ware week-end visitors here with-the with-the Ashbys. I Mrs. Delbert Chipman and son Dclbert Ray and with Mrs. Rawlings of Provo, have spent a week at the Chipman cabin at Mutual Dell. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Giddings and family have been enjoying a stay in American Fork canyon, occupying the Earl Holmstead cabin at Mutual Dell. Misses Naomi Gaisford and June Holmstead have returned home from a three weeks visit in Los Angeles with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Singleton and friends. John Francis, D. C, of Santa Ana, California, stopped in American Fork Saturday enroute to New York with two other chiropractors of California. Califor-nia. He visited with his aunt, Mrs. Rose H. Grant. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Robinson of Highland are the happy parents of a winsome daughter, born July 14th. All concerned are doing well. Mrs. Robinson, mother of Wayne, spent several days with them the forepart of the week. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Myers and son, Gareth, with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth J. Myers of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Golden S. Baxter of Sandy, spent two days on the Weber We-ber river near Kamas on a fishing trip. Reverend and Mrs. S. Hall Bar-ratt Bar-ratt and two children are visiting in American Fork with Mrs. Bar-ratt's Bar-ratt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Parr. Mrs. Barratt formerly was Miss Marian Parr. Their home is in Waterville, New York. Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Mark Coddington and son are in from the Codding-ton Codding-ton ranch near Colton for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. La Drew Roberts of Los Angeles, are spending two weeks in American Fork and vicinity vicin-ity with relatives. Mrs. O. U. Hyer and daughters, Ruth and Agatha, of Lewiston, are spending two weeks here with Mrs. Hyer's mother, Mrs. W. H. Gardner. Pat Culbcrtson of Provo, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Culbertson, is enjoying a week's visit here with his grandixirents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ern-est Hindley, Sr. Mi-, and Mrs. F. M. Houston and family, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hutchings and daugthter, Beverly, of Salt Lake, were dinner guests here Wednesday of Dr. and Mrs. V. F. Houston. Mrs. William Hansen and son, and Mrs. May Blake spent the major part of last week in the capitol city, where they were the guests of Mrs. George Elsmore, sis-1 ter of the ladies. Mrs. Felt Golden and children have returned home to Ivanpah, California, after a visit of a week here with Mrs. Golden's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Wilde. Mre. Harrison Pierson and two children of Los Angeles have been enjoying a visit of several weeks j here with Mr. Pierson's mother, Mrs. C. A. Pierson, and with Mrs. Pierson's sister, Mrs. L. R. Kitchen. Miss Mary Laycock of Vernal and little Miss Marilyn Foster of Salt Lake are visiting here for the week while the child's parents, Mr. ' and Mrs. Ivan Foster are touring' Yellowstone Park. Miss Laycock is a sister of Mrs. Foster and they ! are at the home of Mrs. Emma1 Foster, mother of Ivan. Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hansen and son, Cecil Ray, with Mrs. Hansen's Han-sen's sister, Mrs. May Blake of California; Mrs. Donald H. Stubbs and children of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Spafford and children of tills city, motored up Provo canyon can-yon to Vivian Park Sunday and spent the day. Feminine charms stole all honors hon-ors away from the little chaps who were entered in the baby picture contest shown on the screen of the Cameo Theatre last week. Those who saw the pictures were asked to vote upon leaving the theatre, the pictures being numbers. To the winsome little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Moss, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Steiner and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Nelson went the honors. Each little lady won a handsome en-enlarged en-enlarged painted photograph of herself. Over one hundred kiddies were entered in the contest. Boyd Coddington of Salt Lake Is here for an indefinite stay with his grandmother, Mrs. Thomas Coddington. Cod-dington. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Davis and daughter, Miss Fay Tanner, motored mot-ored to Heber Sunday and spent the day with relatives of Mr. Davis. Miss Mary Ashby returned Monday Mon-day from a five weeks trip which included the Wold's Fair and a trip to the eastern coast, New York, Boston, Washington, D. C, etc. Mrs. Edward Tuttle and family motored to Heber Monday evening and visited with Mr. Tuttle who is managing one of the leading mercantile mer-cantile institutions there. Mr. Tuttle Tut-tle recently purchased a new Chevrolet Chev-rolet sedan. They are having some difficulty finding a house in Heber and will join Mr. Tuttle there when a suitable place is available. Wilford Morrison and daughter, Miss Irene Morrison of Orange, California, Cali-fornia, arrived Thursday of last Mrs. Vem Beck and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beck and baby daughter, will spend this week-end and the first of next week near the Pacific mine with Mr. Beck, his sheep herd being located near there. Mrs. Will Chipman and daughter, Miss Ora Jean Chipman, have returned re-turned from a delightful trip which iicluded besides a visit to the World Fair in Chicago, a visit in Appleton, Wisconsin, with Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Whitman. They report the Fair fully as marvelous as all reports anc' advertising matter report it to be. ;tating that one could be there constantly con-stantly from now until the Fail doses in October and yet see new hings each day. While in Appleton vith the Whitman family an Eldex 51etcher, a Latter-day Saint mission-u-y visited the home. Among the families of the First ward who camped at Mutual Dell while the ward was enjoying its annual M. I. A. outing from Thursday Thurs-day to Monday morning were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bush and son Howard; Ho-ward; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adams; Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Grant and family; fam-ily; Mrs. A. F. Smith, Mrs. Emma Chase, Mrs. Edna Reeder; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown and family; Mrs. Julius Christensen, Mrs. E. Ray Gardner and children, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Singleton and children; Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Ovard and family, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Ovard, Mrs. Sherman Robinson and daughter; Mrs. Mate Earl and children; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Huff and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nilson and sons and Mrs. Will Conder and sons. An average of eighty-five persons were accomodated for each meal at the "Hut", a record attendance for the ward. The evening programs were very largely attended. Mrs. De Mar Dudley and small son of Jensen, are visiting here with Mrs. Dudley's parents, Mi-, and Mrs. George P.. Shelley. Mr., and Mrs. W. E. Duncan of Salt Lake have returned to American Amer-ican Fork to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan have been in Salt Lake for the past seven or eight ! years. Mrs. B. N. Christensen and Mre. Lenore Dowd are enjoying this week in American Fork canyon, guests of President and Mrs. C. E. Young at their cabin near Mutual Dell. Last Friday being the tenth birthday birth-day of Miss Mildred Adamson, her mother, Mrs. L. B. Adamson, ' took twenty of Mildred's friends and her daughter to Geneva for the' afternoon. Games were played and a tasty lunch enjoyed. Misses Relia AJlen, Helen Clarke, Maurine Christensen and Messrs! Clare Christensen, Paul Christensen, Christen-sen, Harold Ramsay and Paul Chip-man Chip-man were guests at a party given by Miss Frances Nuttal of Salt Lake last Saturday night. The other guests were Helen Gale Parker, Park-er, Everett Boyden and Clarence Barker of Salt Lake. They spent the evening in dancing at the Old Mill after which they returned to the Nuttal home and were served a delicious lunch. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Jensen of Salt Lake were guests last Sunday of Mrs. Thomas Coddington here. In the afternoon they, with Mr. and Mrs. Hans Laursen, motored up American Fork canyon, where they enjoyed their supper. Miss Lucile Richards celebrated her eighth birthday last Saturday by having a party. Sixteen little friends were bidden and all enjoyed themselves in playing games of various kinds after which the little hostess' mother, Mrs. G. S. Richards, Rich-ards, served a dainty lunch. The Progressive 4-H club of the Second ward with their leader, West Hammond, visited the Fish Hatchery Hatch-ery at Springville one day last week, and that evening after inspecting in-specting the hatchery, they went over to Glengarry where they played games and ate their lunches. lunch-es. Little Miss Colleen Bennett, I daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bennett of Alpine, went through a rather harrowing and unique ex-Iperience ex-Iperience last week. The child in I dressing her doll swallowed a long blackheaded pin For two days her diet consisted of bread and cotton, which, was to wrap itself about the pin and prevent injury. For twelve hours the pin was located lodged in the same spot in the child's stomach and it was feared an operation op-eration was necessary but Dr. V. F. Houston perservered and by the end of two days the pin was recovered recov-ered and the little one was little worse off for the "diet". Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D. Fitzgerald left Thursday for Delta where Mr. Fitzgerald has employment. They have spent the past four months here and hi Monroe.. Mi-, and Mrs. P. D. Canfield have purchased the old Shipley home hi the Second ward. Mr. Canfield is 1 employed in Carbon county. His family will reside here. Miss Maurine Christensen returned re-turned Saturday from a week's visit in Sait Lake where she was a house guest of Miss Francis Nuttal. Nut-tal. Miss Frieda Houston of Salt Lake Is the guest here this week of Miss Christensen. Fred Mc-Bride and a party of friends stopped in American Fork Tuesday enroute to American Fork canyon and Tinipa.nogos Cave. Mr. McBridc visited with his grandfather and aunt, E. E. McBride and Mre. Jennie Cunningfham. Ward Donnan, James Eyler and Martin Morgan of Frederick, Maryland, Mary-land, -are visiting in American Fork with friends, especially with Mr. and Mrs. Byron Crookston. Mr. Donnan is a son of James Donnan who was at one time connected with the local J. C. Penney Store. Last Friday night the neighbors of A. L. Davis and his bride, far-! merly Mrs. Jennie Tanner, staged an impronitu reception and pave Uncouple an old fashioned "ehlv-ai'l" "ehlv-ai'l" at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were gome and accompanied the group up town. The party complained com-plained to the dtv ma.rs.hnl that Mr. Davis had stolen the town's nitlllnor and he Imposed a fine of all day suckers" for the crowd which was promptly paid. Mrs. Davis was "ned a hat for each of the crowd ot wo understand the matter has 10,1 settled "out of court." |
