Show First Half Yet Undecided The first half of the Central Utah Baseball League ended last Wednesday with Payson and Pleas- ant Grove tied for first place with the Lehi team in second place. However there is yet some playing to be done before the first half is decided. Pleasant Grove and American Amer-ican Fork must play over again one inning of a protested game, which they will do on July 21st. If American Fork wins the played inning Payson will be declared the fust half winner, but if Pleasant Grove wins, this team and Payson will be tied as at present, necessitating necess-itating a play off between the two teams. The second half will then be played and the winners of the second half will play either Pay-SOn Pay-SOn or Pleasant Grovo for the League 0hampi6hhir); The second half opened with American Fork meeting Orem at Orem on Saturday. The locals came out victors with a score of 8 to 4 in a closely contested battle. Mercer' was on the mound for the iocals and pitched a mighty fine game. Orem used Tolton and Pierce but failed to check the American Fork batsmen. In the game here Wednesday Pay-son Pay-son trounced the Cavemen 5 to 1. Dudley, hurling for the Paysonites had the local sluggers at his mercy keeping the 8 hits well scattered. Bohn allowed only eight hits also but they proved costly. The next game is with Pleasant Grove there today and Lehi comes here on the 24th for the first game between these rivals in the second half. The game is called for 1:30 Co allow another game at Lehi the same day. |
