Show Alpine News Mrs. Leonard Bates, Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Healey announce an-nounce the birth of a son Wendes-day Wendes-day night, January 15. Mother and baby are doing nicely. A shower was given in honor of Mrs. Russell Allen January 15th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvinl Whitby. Mrs. Allen was formerly Miss Vervene Strong, daughter of j Mr. and Mrs. Mark Strong- of fiq.lt. I Lake, formerly of Alpine. Games, etc. were enjoyed after which a dainty dain-ty lunch was served. Mrs. Allen was the recipient of many beautiful and useful presents. The Daughters of the Pioneers held their regular monthly meeting Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jessie Burgess. A sketch of the life of her great-grandfather was given by Mrs. Dora Shepherd. A duet was rendered by Ann Burgess and Lorraine Whitby and a reading was given by Lois Shepherd. A talk on Utah receiving Statehood was given by class teacher, Mrs. Anne Clark. After the program a dainty lunch was served. Mrs. Burgess was assisted as-sisted in entertaining by Mrs. Dora Shepherd and Mrs. Lilly Smith. Mrs. Will J. Strong is ill at her home here. Her many friends hope for her speedy recovery. Mrs. E. W. Burgess entertained a number of the young friends of her daughter, Ula, Tuesday afternoon in honor of her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Watkins entertained en-tertained at a wedding reception, in honor of their daughter, Elza, and Mr. Elliott Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Grant, of American Fork, Thursday evening in the Alpine Gym The young people will be married the same day in the Salt Lake temple. tem-ple. The occasion also honors Mr. Watkins birthday. o |
