Show Moisture Condition Condi-tion Continues To Improve The heaviest snow fall this winter and possibly for the past eight years fell here Sunday night and Monday, 10 inches of new snow falling at the Power Plant at the mouth of American Fork canyon. Mr. E. O. Maxfield said they now have a total of 17 inches, the moisture content being 4.94 inches, in comparison with 6.70 for the same period closing January Jan-uary 31st last year. Mr. Maxfield said, however, the moisture this year is much better as it is in the form of snow that is packed well and will hold for some time yet. Last year the moisture came in the form of rain during the early months and ran off practically as fast as it fell. The assurance of much early water is given by Mr. Walker at the Cave Camp, who reports 28 inches new snow by Tuesday morning. Mr. Walker made a trip to Deer Creek and reports 9Y2 inches moisture there with 8V2 inches at South Fork. The snow is well packed throughout that part of the canyon. Utah lake is a minus 10.23 feet below compromise point at noon Wednesday, according to Fred Shel-ton Shel-ton of Lehi. This is 3V4 inches lower than at the same time last year. Hie rainfall in the early months of last year was responsible for the difference. differ-ence. The Provo river and other streams are at the present time running run-ning a full stream into the lake and the snow laying low in the canyons will add more in the early months of spring. |
