Show Widening of State Road Asked J Utah county communities will pre- sent a petition to the state road commission today at the state cap-'. cap-'. itol, asking that highway No. 91 in . the county be widened from 18 to 40 feet, the Provo chamber of commerce com-merce road committee and county representatives, conferring with Preston G. Peterson of the commission, commis-sion, decided Monday. ! A petition asking that the road be widened from 18 to 30 feet from Pay-son Pay-son to the Point of the Mountain was presented to Mr. Peterson Monday. Mon-day. Mr. Peterson explained the commission favored widening the road to 40 feet Instead of 30, but would be unable to widen such a long distance as from Payson to the Point ; of the Mountain this year, due to , finances. However, he thought a ; portion of it might be done. It was decided to ask that the pro-Iject pro-Iject be made a part of this year's program and placed under the 1934 . budget. Mr. Peterson told the group the state road commission already had under contemplation changing the I route at the Point of the Mountain. I The commission's plan is to go thru the cut and run it parallel with the railroad tracks, he said. The road j would then run directly southeast, connecting the highway just out of iLehi, thus eliminating a large number num-ber of curves, Mr. Peterson added. I The committee to wait on the commission com-mission Friday will be William Chipman, American Fork; Ivan L. Burr, Orem; Seymour C. Menden-hall, Menden-hall, Springville; Senator John- E. Booth, Spanish Fork; John O. Bees-ley, Bees-ley, Provo, and one representative each from Lehi, Pleasant Grove and Payson. |
