Show Te Years Ago j Now j (Taken from files of June 7, 1924) American Fork citizens and residents resi-dents of the surrounding communities communi-ties are to have the privilege of enjoying en-joying regular weekly summer band concerts according to announcements announce-ments made by the city officials and K. J. Bird, director of the silver band. The band is comprised of 25 members and the concerts will start on June 12th, Ten Years Ago Now Recognizing the fact that the boys and girls of this community need some wholesome recreation during the summer, a movement is on foot to construct tennis courts for the young people this summer. The project as proposed provides for the boys and girls to aid materially in the construction of the courts and the equipment. Ten Years Ago Now Next Thursday a carload of spring frys will leave American Fork bound I for Los Angeles markets. The car is being loaded by Ray Shelley representing repre-senting the Fulton Market of Salt Lake and will include ten thousand fowls for which 20c a jxmnd is being paid; Ten Years Ago Now Farewell parties are being planned Jn the near future for young men and women of this city who have accepted mission culls. Miss Florence Flor-ence Friday leaves for the Eastern States mission,' Miss Zina Clayson for the California mi.s,ion, Miss Ellen Jacklin for the Southern States mission and Kenneth Singleton Single-ton for Great Britain, all in the near future. Ten Years Ago Now Thornton Drug No. 2 is now located lo-cated in Its new quarters, the building build-ing formerly occupied by the City Market. A new tile floor has been laid in the building. Ten Years Ago Now Melvin Grant left this morning for Montreal, Canada, from where he will sail for Great Britian having accepted a mission call. Miss Lois Baker leaves next Wednesday for the California mission. Wilford Storrs and Morris Euckwalter left yesterday I for Australia to spend the next two years as missionaries. Ten Years Ago Now The home of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. j Grant was made happy Saturday morning by the arrival of a baby son. Ten Years Ago Now Announcements were received during dur-ing the week of the graduation of Vernon F. Houston from the Jefferson Jeffer-son Medical College of Philadelphia, Pa., where he has been a 6tudent for the past four years. |
