Some patterns of coping become destructive when they are increasingly isolative and cut down on a person's ability to trust others. Trust and . conversation are important ways of testing reality. The more rigid and isolated one becomes, the more one's thoughts and feelings can seem abnormal, thus leading to increasing uneasiness. A vicious circle develops in which people lose the ability to cope because they have cut themselves them-selves off from feedback and support. I The earlier this cycle can be interrupted, the easier it is to reestablish some reality. This requires taking some chances. , developing some trust in others, and not trying to maintain total control. Frequently destructive patterns develop after some kind of emotional upset or hurt. A trained therapist can help work through life's painful thoughts and feelings and put things in a more constructive perspective. i Kor more information, call .";-:tiiiii. |
