Show Donation buys new EKG machine It was recently announced that Geneva Steel has made a $10,000 contribution to American Fork Hospital for the purchase of a new electrocardiogram machine, according ac-cording to Craig M. Smedley, AFH Administrator, and David W. Staub, Associate Director of the Central Utah Health Care Foundation. Founda-tion. "The EKG machine is the basic cardiac diagnostic tool, and the hospital was very much in need of a new one," Smedley said. "Consequently, "Conse-quently, we are very grateful to Joe Cannon and Geneva Steel for this gift. It will benefit patients of all ages in northern Utah County for years to come." Commenting on the decision to make the gift, Joe Cannon, Geneva Steel's President, said: "American Fork Hospital is an important health care resource in our community. commu-nity. It serves a lot of people, in cluding many Geneva employees. We feel it is very deserving of our support, and so we're pleased to help." Dennis Hartle, R.T., Director of Respiratory Care at AFH, noted that "while the advances in cardiac care - open heart surgery, balloon angioplasty, diet intervention, and new drugs are wonderful, physicians physi-cians still rely heavily on the EKG machine to identify heart problems and help determine a course of treatment." Central Utah Health Care Foundation, which worked with Geneva to obtain the gift, was established es-tablished in 1984 to develop charitable chari-table support for the three Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Health Care non-profit hospitals in Utah County Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, American Fork Hospital, and Orem Community Hospital. |
