Hot Shots win Sp. Fork Invitational The Pleasant Grove Hot Shots first place in the Spanish Fork Invitational Filly Tournament held July 26-29. In the first game, the Hot Shots played the Spanish Fork Bullets. Outstanding fielding by shortstop Betsy Sumner kept the Hot Shots in the lead until the game was stopped because of rain. The teams came back the next day and finished the last two in- In game four, the Hot Shots had to play another Pleasant Grove team, the Slick Chicks. It was 1-0 for the Hot Shots in the toD of the third when Autumn Shumway hit a home run to bring the score to 4-0. Catches by Becky Smith and Brock Debruyn kept the Slick Chicks' scoring low. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Betsy Sumner caught a fly ball to end the game with a final score of 15-6 for the Hot Shots. During season play, the Hot Shots finished in a tie for first place with the Sluggers. During the city tournament the Hot Shots placed second, losing only their final game to the Slick Chicks, 8-7. Salem came from behind in the fourth to take a one point lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Au- tumn Shumway hit to center to bring in two runs. Then Mary Van f Dyke hit to left field bringing in the final run. The Hot Shots held the Suns for 1 a final score of 6-4. t The Hot Shots met the Spanish Fork Pacesetters in the third game.
