Show i-V 1 'V S h Cloggers West dancers perform a number which will be amont those to be presented in Greece this summer. Cloggers West represent U.S. A unique honor has recently been paid to ("loggers West, based in Pleasant Grove. The group has been chosen to be the United States representative at the :S4th annual Folk Festival in Lel'kada, Greece this summer. At the recommendation of J.F. Proux, chairman of the CIOFF Festivals in France, and for whom the cloggers performed in 1985, an official invitation has come from the Honorable Spiros Marguelis, Mayor of Lefkada. The cloggers will perform with groups from 30 other nations, including in-cluding the Soviet Union, as well as several other countries from the Iron Curtain. Some 32 people will make the trip and will participate for over a week at the prestigious festival, which is the largest festival in all of Europe. The cloggers previous appearance ap-pearance in France three years ago was so well received that they have received invitations to appear in Germany, the Soviet Union, and England, as well as a return engagement in France in two years. Cloggers West personnel will also be stopping in Nashville, Tenn., where they will perform at Opryland, USA, and on to London, where they will present a special LDS Fireside performance before going on to Athens, and then on to Lefkada. The festival is situated on the tiny peninsula of Levkas on the west coast of Greece and runs for a week, August 20-28. The cloggers will also be appearing ap-pearing at the rodeo during the Strawberry Days celebration this week. |
