Show Ray, Myrtle Bowen to celebrate anniversary if-, ? Al The children of Ray B. Sr. and Myrtle Sain Bowen will honor their parents on their golden anniversary anniver-sary Saturday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Granger 11th Ward Cultural Hall, 2850 W. 3835 South, West Valley City. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the open house. Your love and friendship are cherished cher-ished gifts. They request no others. Ray Brigham Bowen was born April 10, 1915, to Lewis John and Adelaide Honey Bowen in Driggs, Idaho After attending public schools in River Heights and Hyrum, Utah, he furthered his education at the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural College, now Utah State University, graduating on June 5, -1937 with a B.S. Degree in agriculture, agricul-ture, majoring in dairy manufacturing, manufac-turing, and minoring in bacteriology-Myrtle Ann Sain was born on November 16, 1918 to Henry Sain ' and Nellie Ann Young. Nellie died : in child birth in Brooklyn, New .York in 1921 leaving her two chil-' chil-' dren, Eugene and Myrtle. Henry brought them to Salt Lake City and married Margret Carolyn Thomas in March of 1923 where three more brothers were added by this union. Myrtle gradu-' gradu-' ated from West High School. In the fall of 1937, Ray first met Myrtle at the C-Street Grocery Store where she worked. They were married a year later on Oct. 12, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Since their marriage they have lived in the Salt Lake Valley, and presently reside in West Valley City. From 1937 to 1952 Ray worked as a dairy product processor at Sunnyside Dairy, Brainard's Cottonwood Cot-tonwood Dairy, and Mid-Western Dairy Products Company, presently pres-ently known as Arden-Sunfreeze Creameries. In 1952 hebegan work with Winder Dairy until his retirement retire-ment in April, 1973. Both Myrtle and Ray have been active members of the LDS Church throughout their lives, serving in many of the church's organizations, organiza-tions, both ward and stake. At the age of 18, Myrtle was asked to be one of the first Junior Sunday School teachers when the program was instituted in 1936. She served as Relief Society president of the Granger 11th Ward. Ray has always been a devoted Home Teacher. He has been dedicated dedi-cated to record keeping and genea-logical genea-logical work, and has served as ward genealogical chairman. Honoring them with the open house are their ten children: Rachel Ra-chel and Erma Bowen, of West Valley City; Mrs. Norman P. (Edna) Herrington, Kearns; Mrs. Robert D. (Joyce) Plett, Sandy; Mrs. William E. (Beverly) Bennett, Hiiv I',., Myrtle S. Vxnwn Lafayette, Colorado; Mrs. B. James j (Janet) Ingram, American Fork; ! Marie Bowen of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ray B. and Cindy Bown, Jr., Moorpark, California; Mr. Howard S. and Julie Bowen, Los Angeles, California; and Mr. John H. and Cheri Bowen, Sandy, Utah. They have 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |
