Harward to celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary at reception 7 - I I i r When LaVon Harward and LaVon Williamson were married on Nov. 1, 1938, the Justice of the Peace thought it was so unusual that two people with the same first name should marry that he called KSL to let them in on the story. You can imagine the happy couple's surprise when they heard their marriage announced on the radio. Their plans to keep their wedding a secret were quickly thwarted. Fifty years later, the children of LaVon and LaVon Harward will honor their parents with a reception recep-tion on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the American Fork 4th Ward Church, 445 E. 300 North, American Fork. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. They request no gifts, please. Mr. Harward retired in 1983 from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after a career of 32 years. He still maintains a close contact with friends he has made over the years in the business as they continue con-tinue to call for his counsel. He also helps in insurance matters mat-ters one day a week at American Fork Hospital, and helps as an advisor to the American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Lehi Senior Citizen Centers for seniors who need help with their insurance claims. Mrs. Harward is well known in north Utah County for her service on the piano and organ. She has played for civic and church choral groups for many years, starting when she was 12 years old. She has played for numerous funerals and also as an organist in the Provo LDS Temple. The Harwards are active in the LDS Church. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on their first anniversary. Mr. Harward has served for seven years as bishop of the American Fork 4th Ward. He has also been a stake high counselor. Together the Harwards have served as ordinance ordi-nance workers in the Provo Temple. The Harwards have six children, chil-dren, L. Kay Harward, American Fork; Stephen R. Harward, Gilbert, Ariz.; Dennis E. Harward, Sioux City, Iowa; Jeffrey D. Harward, Har-ward, Tucson, Ariz.; Jason P. Har- Mr. and Mrs. l.aVon llaiwanl ward, Pleasant Grove; and Mrs. Gregory (JoEllen) Russon, San Antonio, Tex. They have 20 grandchildren grand-children and 2 great- grandchildren. |
