Show Pageant Guild holds luncheon A bit of Hawaii invaded the Alpine Country Club when the Utah Pageant of the Arts Guild held their annual membership luncheon and spring boutique. The event was around the theme "Aloha Spring," with everything from the menu to decorations, to silk flower centerpieces and entertainment en-tertainment helping transport participants --. in., imagination at ., least -to the islands. Rosalie Scholes, board president, introduced board members, and told the purpose of the Guild. She said the Guild supports the Pageant of the Arts, both in volunteer projects season and by funding raising. Activities include presentation of arts scholarships each year, conducting con-ducting a contest for art students throughout the state; sponsoring the Pageant Symphony; assisting with funding for the pre-show seminars . held each year, and assist with other activities. Mrs. Scholes asked for help from volunteers in helping both the Pageant and the Guild. "The Pageant needs your help. The arts need your help. All of the arts are struggling with the cutback in funding," Mrs. Scholes said. ''We really need all of you here today to support the Pageant, not only financially but by giving your service. The Arts need your support so they don't die on the vine." Mrs. Scholes noted not only the Pageant but Ballet West, the Shakespearean Festival, the Utah . Symphony and other areas of the arts are struggling to keep alive. |
