Mike Blackhurst. j Bean named March employee I Pleasant Grove Police Detective Bert Bean has been selected as the Pleasant Grove City Employee of the Month for March. The veteran police officer was honored during the City Council Meeting last Tuesday. He will have his name placed on a plaque with other Employees of the Month, receive a dinner for two for him and his wife, and have his picture displayed in the city hall for a month. Bert has been a police officer for 19 years, the past 13 of which have been spent in Pleasant Grove. In announcing the award, Mayor David Holdaway said that Det. Bean has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge in his many years as a police officer. "He has great rapport with people and they find him easy to talk to," Mayor Holdaway noted. He added j that Bert has a good sense of humor, i too. The mayor said that Bert is a very good detective. He gave an example of when Bert responded to a burglary at the Cornell Haynie residence. In searching the home Bert saw the burglar who fled the scene before Bert could catch up with him. Bert persisted in his investigation in-vestigation and the man was later apprehended out of state and most of the items taken in the burglary were recovered. Bert, a resident of Lindon, said he has enjoyed working for the city. The mayor added that he wanted Bert to know that the city really appreciates him and his efforts in behalf of the community. Bert' and his wife, the former Nancy Carey, are the parents of six children. Bert is a member of the Utah Peace Officers Assoc. His hobbies include woodworking, gardening and hunting. He majored in art in college and enjoys painting. : He is a graduate of the Utah Police Academy. He has received an award from the Pleasant Grove Fraternal Order of Eagles. |
