Show Jennie Beagley Jennie Beagley wins area ZCMI contest Jennie Beagley, a Pleasant Grove High School student, has won the first place Judges Award in the ZCMI Table Setting Contest at the University Mall store. Her prize was her choice of a 45-piece 45-piece set of Royal Doulton fine china with a retail value of nearly $700. The theme of Jennie's entry was "Send In The Clowns." The centerpiece cen-terpiece featured a mirror with confetti and a clown. She was one of the winners in the Pleasant Grove High School Table Setting Contest which gave her the right to enter the ZCMI Contest. Her's was one of 45 tables judged at ZCMI. The judges for the contest came from New York. Teresa Griffin, Home Economics teacher at PGHS, said that the entries are judged a lot on design. She said the students think up their own design. She spends one full class period helping the students with ideas, ways to fold napkins, etc. Anyone at the high school can enter the competition. The students who have represented the high school have done well, Mrs. Griffin said. She added that ZCMI does a fine job of presenting the contest, too. There have been several other prize winners from PGHS in the past, Mrs. Griffin noted. Jennie is in Mrs. Griffin's Foods III class and in Joan Smith's Family Life Class. Both teachers help with the contest. |
