Photo by John Hill. PGHS trackster sets school record Todd Simmons set a PGHS high jump record of 6'6" and won four first places in last weeks triangular track meet in Viking Stadium. Simmons broke his own m ark of 6'4", set last year, as he leaped to the new record on a cold March day. The senior sprinter also won the long jump at 19'1", the 100 meters in 11.50 and the 200 meters in 22.69. Keeping the scoring leadership in the family, Rhonda Simmons, Todd's sister, won pair of firsts and a second for the girls team ' Rhonda won the 100 meter hurdles j in 17.19, the 300 meter hurdles in i 50.55 and was second in the 100 meter dash in 13.87. Lisa Hall was the other Lady Viking to place first with a throw of 96'11" in the javelin. Lenda Kerr was second in the 800 and 1600 meter runs while Vikki Allred took third in the discus and fourth in the high j ump. Cory Warburton won the 400 meter run for the guys with a time of 55.77 and Cory Atkinson was first in the javelin with a throw of 153'0". Eric Cook, who had a great cross country season, was second in the 3200 meter run and third in the 1600 meter run. Paul Mattinson and David Preece were second and fourth in the 100 and Bill Larsen was third in the 400 meter run. . Craig Hayden, a junior, was third in the high j ump at 6'2". Chris Larsen placed in both hurdle events. He was third in the 300 and fourth, after a nasty fall, in the 110 high hurdles. Kirk Goodwin was fourth in the javelin. The boys division was won by Timpview with 71 points with PG 61 and Uintah 45. In the girls division, Timpview posted 67 points with Uintah getting 53 and PG 37. The public enjoyed seeing displays and demonstrations of what classes and activities they have to offer. |
