Show I Help is as close I as your phone If you've got a problem and need a listening ear, help is as close as a phone call away. -': -': -' ' The Utah County Crisis Line, in ;i operation since 1972, is a service many county residents are unaware of, according to Cara McKinnon, ' Crisis Line administrative j! manager. And though most people ', may never need the line or its j j i services, they should know the ' ; line's paraprofessional volunteers are always ready to listen and help. Crisis Line, which may be ; reached by dailing 377-TALK, was i created to handle emotional J emergency calls, including crisis ; and suicide intervention and ! emergency referrals. "We're a confidential listening agency available to anyone who needs help," McKinnon said. "If people are lonely and just want to talk, that's what we're here for, too. We're an all-purpose agency for the community." Crisis Line is a non-profit organization staffed by community volunteers, Which include businessmen, students, housewives, teachers and concerned citizens who have taken the opportunity to fill a very real need in the community. com-munity. "We're always in need of more volunteers," McKinnon said. "We get quite a few calls." Those interested in becoming Crisis Line volunteers need no previous experience in crisis prevention, just a desire to help other in need. Three-hour training classes are scheduled to begin next month and run Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.
