Show 1 Citizen, Press, Review, Wed., April 9, 1986 - Page 14 Scarpino's a welcome addition By SHARON MORREY At last, a place to dine out in American Fork that feels fancy and yet is affordable, a place to go when you want it be special. Scarpino's is a delight. The atmosphere is charming. I like the high beamed ceiling effect, the white-wash-ed walls and green trim. Italian herbs add a nice touch. The food is delicious, hot and tasty. The ice cream is really not even ice cream as we know it. It's creamy smooth pudding or at least it seems that way and the flavors (which I can't pronounce) are unique. It's, verrry interesting and very good. Sampling is encouraged so even a faint-hearte- d taster like me can check it out before committing to a particular flavor. The waiters are courteous and prompt. I felt at home. No one rushed our party and no one had to wait for water. Their only mistake was in underestimating the Friday night crowd. A couple of menu items ran short; one that I really wanted to try. I think this business can do well in American Fork. People are flocking in. The food is good and the dining experience unique. You might want to check it out. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, but when in American Fork, go to Scarpino's. 1 3 'a I " S I - 1 ... ! ) ... ;- " - ; 1 Gaye lieeson Marvin Payne Babymoon Theatre presents 'Love Songs Concert Following their standing room only successes with concerts of "Love Songs" presented for the Utah Pageant of the Arts, Marvin Payne and Gaye Beeson have returned to Babymoon Theatre with more love songs fop all ages. Help is as close as your phone If you've got a problem and need a listening ear, help is as close as a phone call away. -- ': ': ' The Utah County Crisis Line, in ;i operation since 1972, is a service many county residents are unaware of, according to Cara McKinnon, Crisis Line administrative j! manager. And though most people may never need the line or its services, they should know the line's paraprofessional volunteers are always ready to listen and help. Crisis Line, which may be reached by dailing was created to handle emotional emergency calls, including crisis and suicide intervention and emergency referrals. "We're a confidential listening agency available to anyone who needs help," McKinnon said. "If people are lonely and just want to talk, that's what we're here for, too. We're an agency for the community." Crisis Line is a non-prof- it organization staffed by community volunteers, Which include businessmen, students, housewives, teachers and concerned citizens who have taken the opportunity to fill a very real need in the com-munity. "We're always in need of more volunteers," McKinnon said. "We get quite a few calls." Those interested in becoming Crisis Line volunteers need no previous experience in crisis prevention, just a desire to help other in need. Three-hou- r training classes are scheduled to begin next month and run Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.
