Show Christmas tree tags available "Eight hundred Christmas tree tags will be available on the Heber Ranger District of the Uinta National Forest beginning Nov. 24, 1986 at 8 a.m.," announced Roy Daniels, District Ranger. These permits will be issued from the District Office, 125 N. 100 East, Heber City, on a first-come, first-serve first-serve basis, at a cost of $3 each, with a limit of one permit per family. Two areas, Bench Creek and Noblett's, will be open for cutting Nov. 24 through Dec. 14. These areas are located approximately 10 miles east of Woodland. Trees available are alpine fir only. "Tree cutters need to know that trees are scattered and accessibility is difficult," said Daniels. Snowmobiles, cross-country skis or snowshoes are recommended due to distance from the parking areas. Ranger Daniels advises using chains or four-wheel drive when traveling to the cutting areas. For further information, call the Heber Ranger District at 1-654-0470. |
