Show Charles Leland D alley honored at open house on ninetieth birthday celebration Charles Leland Dalley of American Fork was honored Thursday, Nov. 13, on his 90th birthday at a family dinner his children held for him. Nov. 16 he was honored at an open house by his family at the Lehi home of a son Wesley and his wife Geraldine. Dalley was born in Summit, Iron County, on Nov. 13, 1896, the year Utah became a state. He attended school in Summit and the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City. He is a veteran of World War I and served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northwestern States, where he was Conference President. He married Zola Carter of j Minersville, Beaver County, Dec. 14, 1923 in the St. George Temple. He farmed until 1928 when they moved to Logan where he attended Utah State Agricultural College (now USU). He received his bachelor's degree and then with fellowship received his master's degree, one of only nine awarded that year. ' Mr. Dalley taught school at the Branch Agricultural College and then worked with the Federal Department of Agriculture in the Farmers Home Administration, for 27 years until his retirement in 1963. He served in many of the communities com-munities of Utah and was Water Facilities Specialist during the time President Ezra Taft Benson was Secretary of Agriculture. Mr. and Mrs. Dalley have five children: Mrs. George (Leola) Hatch, Salem; Richard, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Byron (Colleen) Riches, Salt Lake City; Stanford, Enterprise; Wesley, Lehi. The Dalleys have served in many positions in the LDS Church, including in-cluding temple workers in the St. George and Provo Temples for several years. In 1961 Mr. and Mrs. Dalley toured Europe with their son Stanford and his wife Sandra. In 1962 they toured on the way to Canada where they picked up son Wesley who was on a mission. In 1963 the Dalleys were called on a mission to New Zealand, af-terwhich af-terwhich they toured in Australia and Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Dalley were called on another mission to the Southwest British Mission in 1969. Mr. Dalley served for a time as president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Provo Chapter.
