Show Residents urged to curb motorcycle violations looks suspicious. Three more individuals reported having their mailboxes vandalized over the weekend. Those' who contacted con-tacted the Police Dept. were Ken Nickell, Gerald Belliston and Roland Oliphant. Douglas A. Robinson, 73 S. 300 East, reported the theft of a "brush guard" for his truck. It was valued at $85. There is a suspect according to Officer Lonnie Wilson . Craig Maloney, 439 E. State Road, reported the theft of a Huffy 15-speed, 15-speed, light-blue bicycle valued at $50. The bike was taken from the residence. Officer John Lloyd says there are no suspects. Reed Walker, 475 E. Center, Lindon, reported a burglary at his home on March 27. Officer Jay Thornton said that $27 were taken and other items were moved or disturbed. Pleasant Grove officers assisted Orem in investigating a case of alleged child abuse which occurred at the Frontier Cafe in Lindon. The child was turned over to the custody of his mother in Texas. " One man was seriously injured Saturday when the car he was driving collided with another at Center St. and State Road. Officer Thornton said that Brian Mease, Orem, received serious internal injuries in the mishap and was admitted to American Fork Hospital for treatment. , Also receiving minor injuries in the accident was John Bigbie of Alpine. Lt. Tom Paul of the Pleasant Grove Police Dept. said today that a citizen had contacted him in an effort to encourage residents to report motorcyclists who are breaking the law in the city. Lt. Paul said that citizens are urged to report names and license numbers, if available, when they see someone who is illegally riding in Pleasant Grove or Lindon City limits. He stated that most pf the problems concern unlicensed vehicles and unlicensed drivers, noise and dust. The officer said that a majority of the complaints come from the northeast part of town but there are a substantial amount from other areas and Lindon as well. "We seem to be the city between the world and the foothills," Lt. Paul noted. He reminded motorcyclists and parents that there are city ordinances or-dinances relating to noise, dust and underage youth riding the various kinds of cycles. Only licensed vehicles are allowed on city streets. Those who ride on the canal road are guilty of trespassing and the county land and Forest Service areas are off limits to motorized vehicles. Many times the cyclists not only make noise and dust but also have torn down gates and fences to reach places they want to 'ride in. Some have used abusive . language ancL committed vandalism on those who have asked them to ride elsewhere. A concerted effort by all of the residents of the community could get rid of this serious nuisance. In other matters, the Utah County Sheriff's Office has arrested five individuals in connection with the rash of mailbox vandalism that has taken place in the community in recent weeks. Lt. Paul said he estimated about 30 different mailboxes have been vandalized. He asked that any property owners who have had their mailboxes vandalized call him at the Police Dept. if they have not done so already. Those who live in the. county areas should contact- the Sheriff's office. Pleasant Grove Police recently worked on a case which was the result of a good Neighborhood Watch program in action. Neighbors in the Grovecrest School area noticed a suspicious car in their neighborhood on a regular basis. Parents became concerned and called the police. The officers were able to stop the car in question and learned that one of the persons had recently been parolled from Utah State Prison for forcible sexual abuse. Orem Police reported the same man had been seen in Orem. Local officers asked the individuals in-dividuals to leave town. They encouraged en-couraged residents to keep their eyes open and report anything that |
