ATfit A . six-week Bereavement Group -U-J will be offered at American Fork r;t Hospital starting Thursday, March I'J' 6, from 6-8 p.m. in the hospital board room. Offered free of charge, the course repeats every six weeks. "As the survivor deals with the emotions and adjustments following t .a':L loss,;. . a pfedictablel grieving, process occurs as a part of the healing process. Feelings of loss, anger, denial and depression are only some of the reactions which may be experienced," explained Jay Steineckert, Behavioral Health Unit Director. Bereavement groups help the survivor to identify these feelings and learn to cope with the actual grieving process stages and adjustments. ad-justments. Sessions are under the direction of Phylis Hansen, M.A. Social Work, who is trained in . bereavement counseling. . "If the loss is not. dealt with ap-1; propriately, the survivor may suffer emotional pain for years to come," said Steineckert. "When death is handled appropriately, family members and friends can gain a perspective and understanding of , the loss, along with a sense of ac- ceptance."
