He Company received many accolades and a standing ovation following the Emerging . Choregraphers Concert where they performed "More Precious Than ' Rubies," choregraphed by Corinne Adams. They received third place out of the 18 works that were shown. Several other honors were given to the Company's members. David Wood received Dance Magazine's award for best male dancer. He was given a scholarshp to the Craft Choreography Workshop to be held in Claremont, Calif., in July, all expenses paid. Laura Clarke received a full-tuition full-tuition scholarshp to the same workshop, and Tiffanie Beck and Corinne Adams were chosen alternates. Of the 10 scholarships given, five were awarded to members of the Utah Regional Ballet. Sixty- eight dancers auditioned for the scholarships. Utah Regional Ballet's credibility was further enhanced when Artistic Director Colledge was elected to the Board of Directors of Pacific Regional Ballet; and then was elected to the office of Parlimen-tarian. Parlimen-tarian. Dancers participated in continuous con-tinuous classes in ballet, jazz, modern dance during the three-day festival. They were able to work with great teachers like Richard Commack, Director of San Francisco Fran-cisco Ballet School. Eight mothers arid several members of the board of directors accompanied the troupe to Stockton. |
