Show Suzanne Stirling Suzanne Stirling receives Kimball scholarship Suzanne Stirling, a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, is among 24 high school seniors from across the United States, Mexico and South Africa who have been awarded prestigious Spencer W. Kimball Scholarships to BYU beginning next fall. President Jeffrey R. Holland announced the names of 12 young men and 12 young women on the basis of superior scholarship, leadership ability, high moral character and service to school, church and community. As the top scholarship offered by BYU, 'each grant is for $2220 per year for four years, but may be as much as $3220 per year, depending upon the financial need of the recipient, Holland said. The scholarships bear the name of the president of the LDS Church. More than 350 seniors applied. Winners achieved a mean grade point average of 3.94 on a scale of 4; their compositive American College Test (ACT) scores ranged from 29 to 35. Stirling, a daughter of Keith H. and Delores W. Stirling, is student body vice president of academics, a member of the student council, a General Sterling Scholar Finalist, a National Merit Semifinalist and a member of the A Cappella Choir. |
