But before the time of Christ, Onetime festivals marked the end winter and the return of new life in the earth. The egg is a symbol of w life and it has become an emblem of Easter wouldn't be Easter without U just coloring and decorating eggs. Spring is here after a long winter and what a discover the ov to There is a variety of Easter egg wis on the market and there are many ways to decorate an egg. We refer to use liquid food coloring. Put one-ha- cup of boiling water in a cup, add 20 drops of food coloring and one teaspoon vinegar. Dip egg until desired shade is obtained. We iust use crayons to write names, and decorate the draw pictures eggs-Ha-and turkey are traditional for an Easter dinner. Easter-tim- e picnics are also popular. Some favorite picnic foods are; Glorified Hamburgers l'2 lb. hamburger cup canned milk 34 cup quick oats Va tsp. pepper Vh tsps. salt 3 TB. minced onion Mix together and let stand for about one-hal- f hour. Make into patties. Brown and put into roaster or crock pot and pour the following sauce over: 1 cup catsup 2 Tb. brown sugar 6 Tb. minced onion 34 cup water 3 Tb. vinegar Bring to boil and pour over hamburgers. Let steam 45 minutes or longer in crock pot. Dilly Vegetable Dip 2 cups mayonnaise 2 cups sour cream 2 Tb. dill weed 2 Tb. Bonapetit 2 Tb. parsley Minced onion (optional) Blend well. Chill and serve. Frog-ey- e Salad (Serves 25) 1 cup sugar 2 Tb. flour V-- tsp. salt l:,4 cup pineapple juice 2 beaten eggs 1 Tb. lemon juice 2 cups marshmallows 1 cup coconut 9 oz. cool whip 3 11 oz. cans mandarin oranges 2 20 oz. cans pineapple tidbits 2 20 oz. cans crushed pineapple 16 oz. acini de pepe macaroni Cook macaroni in three quarts water with 1 Tb. oil and 2tsp, salt. Rinse and cool. In a saucepan combine sugar, flour, salt, pineapple juice and beaten eggs. Thicken to gravy consistency. Add lemon juice. Cool. Mix macaroni with all other ingredients and let stand overnight or several hours. Easy Baked Beans 1 large can pork and beans ': cup catsup tsp. mustard 'i cup brown sugar Vz tsp. onion salt Mix and bake in oven about 30 minutes at 350 degrees or heat in microwave. Daffodil Cake Bake an angel food cake. Frost top and sides with powdered sugar icing or vanilla instant pudding. Sprinkle toasted coconut over top and sides. When ready to serve, arrange three daffodils with greenery or leaves in center hole of cake. Easter Bunny Cake Bake a nine inch layer cake. Cool and cut one layer in half. Stand up on cut edge. Cut out a wedge to indicate rabbit's head just about three inches from base. At-tach cut out piece for tail. Frost with fluffy while frosting. Put coconut on cake. Cut ears of folded white paper; color inside pink. Use pink candies for eyes and nose. Fluffy While Frosting V:i cup water 1 Tb. light corn syrup 1 cup sugar a tsp. salt ',.1 tsp. cream of tartar 2 egg whites (beat very stiff) Combine water, syrup, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Boil until aj thread forms after dropping syrup from spoon. Set aside for two minutes. Using mixer, pour hot syrup into beaten egg white, whip until it forms peaks.
