Show City hall one-third finished Fred Christensen, project director for the city hall addition to the Public Safety Building, said today that the work is about one-third completed. Framing began on Monday but rainy weather sent crews from the job when one wall was nearly up. The basement is finished and the back fill work is nearly done. Mr. Christensen said that if the weather is good most of the time, the building can be finished and the city hall office workers moved in by the end of November. The addition, expected to cost about $150,000, contains 3,100 square feet. It will have a drive up window for utility payments, handicapped facilities, offices, conference room, etc. The crews are trying to correct the drainage problems around the existing building while the new portion is being built. They are also putting in a different heating system in an effort to curb exceptionally high heating costs in the Public Safety Building. The city is financing the structure with capital improvement money and has not had to ask the citizens for bond approval to pay for the new city hall. |
