Jilt Jlldi Local pianist selected for concert J Mel Lisa Hollis has been chosen from a field of over 50 of the area's best young musicians to perform as a piano soloist with the Utah Valley Symphony in their Young Artist Concert on Jan. 22 in the Provo Tabernacle. The Young Artist is a program designed to give the area's most outstanding young solo performers an opportunity to share their talents in a formal concert setting backed by a fine symphony orchestra. Lisa will be performing the third movement of the Shostakovich Piano Concerto in F Major. Lisa has received the Outstanding Musician award in both her senior and junior high schools. In 1984, she took first place in the school's region music festival. Lisa and her sister Kristi won first place in the Utah County Fair piano duet competition. They were chosen as guest performers for the Utah Music Teachers Association L Lisa has won first and second flu: place in Utah State Farm Bureau M talent contest in successive years i; Her first solo recital was given jen' under the direction of Dr. Donald iiCl Windham. She has performed in master Shei classes as a guest artist for such am notable musicians as Robert Dumm, Panayis Lyras and Reed ja Nibley. Besides maintaining a 3.97 grade (jai point average at Pleasant Grove High School, Lisa is the president of snut the high school drill team, a He member of the National Honor Society and is the choral ac- J companist for the Pleasant Grove A jjr Cappella Choir under the direction jrar of Mr. Terry Tucker. m She is presently studying piano m under the capable tutorage of Dr. je Irene Perry who teaches at j0UI Brigham Young University. |
