Winawer, coordinatorstate director for Child Nutrition Programs at the Utah State Office of Education. "School lunch is a real bargain when compared to a sack lunch of i equivalent nutritional value," said j Winawer. Although he encourages local food service programs to i publicize the benefits of their meal j offerings throughout the year, he i feels that the declaration of National School Lunch Week brings a focus of the program to the public. "It enables us to tell the general citizenry of the values, both nutritionally and monetarily, of the Child Nutrition Programs," said Winawer. This year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has selected Provo High School to be featured during National School Lunch Week. State and local dignitaries have been invited to participate in school lunch activities on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Provo High. "Where, but in the School Lunch Program, can one get such a well-rounded, well-rounded, nutritious meal for a dollar or less?" asked Winawer. Chris Jolley |
