Show y vJT SAT. Basketball season begins The high school basketball season begins Saturday with the Vikings traveling to Judge Memorial in Salt Lake City. Two games are scheduled with the Bulldogs. The junior varsity plays at fxlJO p.m. with the varsity sta-ting at 7:30 p.m. Coach Keith Allred has trimmed the varsity squad to five seniors, eight juniors and two sophomores in preparation for the first game. Players who saw varsity playing time last year who return this season include Matt Norman, Jim Brown, Brad Kitchen and Mark Clements. Another player who should see plenty of varsity action this year is Bryce Peterson. "Peterson has been very impressive during the first week of practice," said Allred. Peterson is the tallest Viking at 6- 5 with Kitchen, just a junior, at 6-4. Neil Peterson, a jv starter last year, will not be able to play at least until January due to a shoulder separation suffered in football. On Tuesday, November 29th, the Vikes travel to Magna for three games with the Pirates of Cyprus High. The soph's and jv play at 5:30 p.m. in separate gyms with the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. |
