Show Betty Liston Exhibits Art Art works of Verlaine Allen of American Fork and Betty M. Liston, Pleasant Grove are being exhibited during July at the ZCMI Tiffin Room. The two have been friends since they attended at-tended American Fork High School together, and got together a few years ago to take classes in art and to participate in art exhibits. They have studied under well-known area artists and have attended at-tended Utah Technical College at Provo-Orem, studying art. They are both members of the Utah Valley Artists Guild, the American Fork City Art Board, and the Artists Section of the Provo Women's Council. Mrs. Liston has won many awards for her work, including first place in the professional division of this years Steel Days Art Exhibit. A native of Oregon, she is the widow of the late Merrill Liston, and the mother of thee children. She has one grandchild. She is employed as a dark room technicial for the American Fork Citizen. She has painted for the past 19 years, and is particularly fond of still lifes and portraits. She believes art is not just a matter of talent, but is 99 percent hard work. Mrs. Allen is a correspondent in the American Fork area for the Daily Herald. She became interested in painting after her children were raised. She has exhibited work at the Provo Utilities with Mrs. Liston, and - had paintings accepted at the April Art Salon in Springville this spring, and at the Tribute to Women art exhibit in the Salt Lake City LDS Relief Society Building. She received an honorable mention award at the Steel Days Art Exhibit this year. She is the wife of Paul Allen. They have three children and are the grandparents of two. .
