Jacqueline Colledge, former soloist with Ballet West, is director of Utah Youth Ballet and artistic director for this new version of "The Nutcracker." Mrs. Colledge has added her own choreography to the popular ballet with many charming new touches added to the traditional score by Tchiskovsky. Dazzling costumes have been designed and executed by Sarah Price, of Lehi, who has been costume mistress for Ballet West and BYU and has also made costumes for the New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet. Technical excellence is assured by the same staff that produces the annual Utah Pageant of the Arts, with David Oran Brockbank as producer. All performances will be presented at the American Fork High School Theater, 510 North 600 East. Evening performances are at 8 p.m. and matinees will be presented Dec. 29 and 30 at 3 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at Sabine's Dan-cewear Dan-cewear and Accessories, Ac-cessories, 19 East Main, American Fork. All seats are reserved and admission is only $4 for adults and $3 for children ages five through 12. Group rates are available. Children under five years of age, especially . babes in arms, will not be admitted. ad-mitted. The most popular ballet in history originated in an 1816 story by E.T.A. Hoffman. Hoff-man. His story, "Nutcracker and the Mouse King," is a far cry from the sugary adaptation which found its way to the Marinsky Theater when the great composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky set the story to his score. While the choreography is new, the traditional features of the production are written into the score and will be presented in the Utah Youth Ballet version of "The Nutcracker," Nut-cracker," including the Nutcracker Prince, Marie, her Godfather Drosselmeyer, the growing Christmas tree, the dancing doll and bear, the Mouse King, the Toy Soldiers, the Waltzing Flowers and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
