Show Cadmus Club Meeting Held Last Wednesday told many interesting things concerning the life of this outstanding woman. Delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served by the Hostess and Co-Hostesses Co-Hostesses Maymetta Johnson, Marjorie Holdaway, and Drucilla Smith. Cadmus Club was held March 28th at the home of Drucilla Smith. President Beatrice Hayes welcomed the 20 It members who were present and introduced the program for the evening. Carol Jaynes gave a very interesting and informative in-formative presentation ' on the life of Martha H. Cannon one of Utahs ! outstanding pioneer women. Martha H. Cannon was born in 1857 in Wales and came with her family by covered wagon to Utah as a convert to the LDS Church. While very young Martha shewed a great interest in the field of Medicine. She graduated in medicine I at the age of 21 in 1880 ' and was one of Utahs ! outstanding Doctors. ! Martha was instrumen-I instrumen-I tal in many program ! to further better health ! in Utah. She was on the ! first state board of ; Health and helped in its ! ogranization. she also ; established a school for ; nurses. Martha was the 1st ' american woman to be elected as a State Senator in 1896. Carol |
