Show THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1978 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1978 P.G. Camp, DUP Meet Nov. 10 The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Pleasant' Grove Camp held their meeting on November 10th, 1978. There was a large group present. Several visitors and prospective members were introduced. The postlude music was played by Merle Allred. Captain Thelma Rennolds conducted the meeting. The opening song was led by Fern Hicks with Merla Allred as accompanist. They sang,"Utah We Love Thee" Prayer was given by Melva Osburn. The pledge of Alligance was given to the Flag. Captain Remmile an-nounced that it is time to pay our annual dues of membership. She also asked for a vote on the Christmas party to be held next month. Everyone seemed to agree on that. Nelda Ra wlings showed some old pain-tings of her great Grandparents. An in-teresting history was read by Ethel Allen. The lesson was very well presented by Laurie Marrill. The title was "Samplers." She showed some of these which were hand em-broidered pcitures and verses. A very choice picture was shown by Fern Hicks which had been embroidered by her grandmother, depicting the Pioneers, Seagulls and the tem-ple. The closing song was "The Red White and Blue". Nelda Rawlings gave the closing prayer after which refresh-ments were served. MAKE DOGHOUSES Brent Steele, David Jacklin and Bruce Wathen hold and help as Rich Powers saws the side of their doghouse. Lindon Students Learn to Build, Make Doghouses Ever saw a straight line or hammer in a 16 penny nail without bending it? This is not the easiest job to do. It takes prac-tice and experience, lots of it. Bruce Wathen 's sixth grade class is having many such experiences making dog houses. They are sawing, nailing and assembling doghouses they previously drew plans for. As you observe this activity you see varied degrees of ability. You cannot help but be amazed at the interest and care being displayed. The saw cuts are really impressive as the straight one shown in the picture is. There are a few hammer marks but not as many as you might suppose. Rotary Names Brian K. Yocom as Outstanding Brian K. Yocom, son of Karl R. and Barbara W. Yocom, has been selected as outstanding student from Pleasant Grove High School. American Fork Rotary Club honored Brian Tuesday at their regular luncheon meeting held at the Alpine Country Club. He was presented with a certificate of his achievement. Brian is a senior this year at PGHS. He has a grade point average of 3.85. He is on the golf team at the school. His hobbies and in-terests are guitar, harmonica, fly tying, fishing and back-packing. His future plans are to attend Utah State University and major in forestry. School Play Sets Opening November 30 "The Glass Menagerie" will be presented by the Pleasant Grove High School drama depar-- t ment on Thursday November 30th, and Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, The public will be invited. The production will "be an arena theatre type presentation with the audience sitting on the stage. The cast members in elude: Maria Walker as Amanda Wingfield, Sue Fullmer as Laura Wingfield, Tony Davis as Tom Wingfield, and Mark Brown as Jim O'Connor. The faculty director is Van Bulkley. the student director. Bob Tevan-der- . The play is one of Tennessee Williams classic dramas. It deals with a troubled family during the depression. |
