Three North Utah County Pony League Teams Enter Tourney boys getting on base, as he worked the Orem ace, for several walks plus hitting the ball for a single and a sacrifice driving in one of the key runs. Overall team play and team spirit contributed to the vic-tory, which was especially gratifying to the coaches and players, as the Orem team was 17-- 0 going into the tour-nament. Three North Utah County Pony League teams earned the right to enter the Utah State Pony League Tour-nament being held in Orem, July 26-2- The American Fork Astros entered as No. 1 for Utah County, and the P.G. Yanks entered as No. 2 by winning a flip with the Lindon Twins as they both ended in a tie for second place in league play. The Lindon Twins, after losing the coin toss, entered as the third place team, but also had to beat a good So. Nebo No. 2 team 10-- 7 in a playoff game last Saturday. Tournament play Tuesday afternoon saw the P.G. Yanks dump the No. Orem Giant team 5-- 3 in a very close game. The Twins had an easier time of it beating the Richfield No. 1 entry 21-1- 0 in a real hitter's holiday. The Yank victory was a real team effort with everyone contributing to the victory. Craig Swapp pitched a it 10 strikeout game and was backed up with excep-tional defensive play, highlighted by two clutch outfield catches by Scott Robbins. The Yanks hit the Orem ace for 11 hits but stranded 11 men on base, which con-tributed to the closeness of the game. Troy Hansen was 3 for 3 after breaking out of an ex-tended batting slump, followed by Carl Bates with 2 for 3, Kerry Hoglund 2 for 3 with a clutch home run.
