Levi Straus Bell Denims - Lees 1 LAYAWAYS MASTER CHARGE GIFT CERTIFICATES Rules for 1971 Utah Pheasant Hunt Are Given Utah's 1971 pheasant season gets underway Saturady, Nov-ember 13 at 8:00 a.m. for some 85,000 hunters expected afield after the states most popular upland game bird. Shooting times after the first day are daylight hours. Water-fowl hunters are reminded that waterfowl shooting hours for November 13 begin at 8:00 a.m. Daily bag limit is three roost-r- s ,with a possession limit of six after the opening day. Rifles and pistols are illegal weapons for pheasant hunting and shot sizes larger than number four are prohibited. It is unlawful to shoot from or across any public highway or to hunt or shoot within 600 feet of any dwelling house, barn, poultry yard, or corral where domestic animals are kept or fed unless express per-mission from the owner is ob-tained. Persons 12-1- 5 years of age are permitted to take pheas-ants in season, but they must be accmpanied while hunting by a parent, guardian, or per-son 21 years of age or older. Funeral Rites for Frank Smith Set for Friday Frank Smith, 76 years of age, died Nov. 2, 1971 in the Am-erican Fork Hospital of a heart ailment. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 5, 1971 at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Stake House. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Ceme-tery. Mr. Smith, a native of Eng-land, was born Aug. 12, 1896 in Romford, Essex, England. He married Lily St. Pier in Dagenham, Essex, England, on Dec. 26, 1921. The couple came to the United States and Pleas-ant Grove over 20 years ago. Mr. Smith worked for Utah Packers, Inc. for 18 years, and has been retired for the past five years. He was a convert to the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest at the time of his death. He was converted to the LDS church after coming to Utah, and he and his wife had their marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Mrs. J. Ray (Lily) Mills, Pleasant Grove; Also surviving are three grand-children and two Search and Rescue Seminar Now Going in Salt Lake Ralph H. Jones, Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training director, announced the sched-uling of the first Search and Rescue Seminar designed spec-ifically to instruct police and sheriffs' deputies in search and rescue techniques. Police and sheriffs' deputies from through-out the State have been invited to attend the session, now be-ing held at Salt Lake City, Nov. 1 through 5. Included in the program, ar-ranged by Peace Officer Stand-ards and Training Staff Con-sultant Art Beveridge, are top-ic matters of Sheriff's Respon-sibilities in Search and Rescue, Water Search and Rescue, Sur-vival for Searchers, Jeep Posse Cooperative Functions, Com-munications, Air Force Rescue Capabilities, and a demonstra-tion by the Para Medic Rescue Team of the U.S. Air Force. A "Search and Rescue" Man-ual," prepared by Lt. Pete Kutulas in cooperation with Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training, will be furnished each officer in attendance and used as a course study manual. The Manual has been hailed as one of the finest of its kind in the country . Lecturers for the five day course include several promin-ent officers and men from oth-er state and national groups. With many search and rescue operations, continually facing law enforcement officers thru-ou- t the state, it is hoped the Search and Rescue Seminar will furnish to officers in at-tendance new and current methods for more efficient search and rescue operations. be purchased at the door. Cur-tain time is 8 p.m. and the public is cordially invited to 'Ichabod' Slated Tonight and Saturday at PGHS The final two productions of "Ichabod" presented by the Alpine Musical Theatre and sponsored by the Alpine School District Community School will be tonight, Thursday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 6, in the Pleasant Grove High School Tickets are $1 for adults and 50 cents for children, and may Timp Cave Tours End, Visitors Center Still Open The guided tours of Timpan-ogo- s Cave have ended for the winter according to Supt. Don H. Castleberry. The recent snow storms and accumula-tions of ice and snow on the trail combine to make the cave trip unsafe and impracti-cal beyond this time of year. The Visitor Center remains open all winter providing mus-eum exhibits, a slide program about the area and other inter-pretive programs. Special programs, for schools and other groups, will continue to be available by with the Superin-tendent. Visitors taking cave tours during the summer season, May through October, totaled 67,260, a slight decrease from the previous summer. Total visits to the National Monu-ment, for the entire year are expected to reach about 170,-00- Timpanogos Cave National Mountment is an area admin-istered by the Department of the Interior National Park Service. |
