Show Council Holds Regular Session Last Monday Night at City Hall With all members of the council present except councilman council-man Michael Vicchrilli, who was excused, the city council began a regular session Monday Mon-day evening at 7:30. The council coun-cil members had met earlier to interview job applicants for several positions in the city. Art Steele, general city superintendent sup-erintendent met with the council coun-cil to report on the activities of the various departments. He recommended that, the council act as soon as possible to hire new men for the departments, since there had been a loss of manpower in the departments recently. Ross Hunt, newly hired employee em-ployee was introduced to the council members. Mr. Hunt had been hired to assist in the water, wat-er, sewer and street departments. depart-ments. The council discussed with Mr. Hunt the duties of his position and the work policies of the city. Mayor Cook read a letter to the council from the Utah Valley Val-ley Industrial Development Association inviting them to at- tend the next meeting of the UVIDA board. The mayor encouraged en-couraged the councilmen to attend at-tend this meeting. The council approved an a-mendment a-mendment to the special use permit issued to the city from the forest service. This permit is the working agreement with the forest service relating to construction of the water line in Battle Creek Canyon. The amendment required that a bond be posted by the City. Councilman Walter Reimschis-sel Reimschis-sel reported that this matter had been taken care of. Councilman Marvin Green discussed with the council alternatives al-ternatives in the present financing finan-cing of the Tri-City Golf Course The council authorized Mr. Green to continue to investigate these various means of financing. finan-cing. Councilman Cornell Haynie reported that an acting safety committee needs to be organized organ-ized in the city. He recommended recommend-ed that one individual from each of the various civic clubs, churches, schools and business districts be asked to serve on the committee. The council agreed to authorize Councilman Haynie to organize this committee com-mittee as he sees best. The council reviewed again the applications of those people interested in working for the city. The council approved hiring hir-ing three of these individuals. The council approved hiring the accounting firm of Haskins and Sells as auditors for the water improvement project. The federal government requires re-quires that a report of expenses expen-ses be made at the completion of the project. |
