Newman with 520 votes and Vernal Messersmith with 509 completed the voting. The turnout of around 1864 voters was quite high in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove for an off -election year. Maybe citizens are wak ing up and taking their voting responsibility more seriously. The three new councilmen will take office on or near Jan. 1, 1972, and will serve for four years. They will be assisted in their chores by Mayor Jack E. Neil Y. Fugal, topped the voting in the Pleasant Grove City elections for councilmen held Tuesday with 739 votes. He had exacting 50 votes over his nearest rival, D. Ford West who took second spot and a place on the council with 659 votes. Mr. West and John D. Huntsman, Hunts-man, who polled 653 votes for the third place on the council barely beat out incumbent Walter Wal-ter Reimschussel, who got 648 votes, five less than Mr. Huntsman Hunts-man and 11 less than Mr. West. Cook, and incumbent council-men council-men Cornell Haynie and Michael Mich-ael Vicchrilli, who have two more years of their terms to serve. The three new councilmen bring some experience to the council in the way of past experiences. ex-periences. Mr. Fugal has dealt with water problems in his construction con-struction firm, and Mr. West is a former fire chief. Mr. Huntsman, Hunts-man, a retired police officer, is a former city employee. Anyway, the election is over and the people have made their selection. Let's get back of the city government officials, and make our city a "beautiful and well-run city." |
