Show THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1971 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1971 VIKINGS WIN 54--0 OVER UINTAH TEAM by Sally Simpson Pleasant Grove ended up their 71 football season with a crushing victory over the Uin-tah Utes but the joy over the triumph was dampened by bad news from Lehi. Lehi had tied Orem in their final game and had in doing so gained a half game lead over the Vikings. Had Lehi lost they would have met Pleasant Grove in a playoff game that would have given the winning team a chance to go to state. The Vik-ings defeated the Lehi team during season play and were favored over them in case of a rematch. Unfortunately P.G. didn't get the rematch and Le-hi now will play Judge Mem-orial to decide who will move on to state. The Vikings dominated vir-tually the entire Pleasant Grove-Uinta- h game. Six men scored touchdowns for the Vik-ing team, with Russ Eyre, full-back, being the first. Eyre crashed ten yards up the mid-dle to give Pleasant Grove the first score of the ball game. Roger Carson split the up-rights and the Vikings held a 7 poin lead at the end of the first quarter. Again Eyre picked his way up the middle to find the end zone and an attempt for the PAT turned into a two point conversion when Jim Smith fumbled while trying to get the toeup and hurrriedly snatched up the ball to cross for the 2 points. Pleasant Grove scored touch-downs two more times before the half ended. Following a beautiful run by Wayne Allred Dave Phillips cashed in from the four to bring the score to 21-- 0 in favor of the Vikings. With only seconds left in the half, speedy Roger Carson came in to outrun his opposing safety and catch a d pass from Kraig Higginson. Again Higginson connected with a perfectly thrown 20-ya- pass to Chad Murdock, who caught it in the end zone. The PAT was good and the Vikings held a commanding 28 point lead at the half. Pleasant Grove patterned the second half after the first and nearly doubled their score by the end of the game. Bob Chad-se- y added six points to the P.G. score when he picked off a Uintah aerial and sprinted 30 yards for the TD. Pleasant Grove scored again when Gary Lewis caught a short touch-down pass that moved the Vik-ings to a 38 point lead over the Utes. Dave Phillips again scored for the Vikings when he grab-bed up a fumble and moved in the Vikings to a 38 point lead over the Utes. Dave Phillips again scored on a recovered fumble and moved in for the touchdown. The two point conversion fur-ther widened the P.G. lead to 48-- The final score for the ' Vikings came after a bomb to Steve Sanderson that moved the ball within 25 yards of paydirt. Scott Bennett drove to the one yard line where Bill Harper punched in for the score. Time ran out with Uintah in possession of the ball on the Pleasant Grove 30 yard line. The final score was 54 to 0. w--a : y - "ICHABOD" John Larsen as Bro mBones sings to Cheryl Watson as Katrina in scene from production to be shown at Pleasant Grove High School on Nov. 4 and 6 at 8 p.m. Ichabod Slated for Pleasant Grove Next Friday, Saturday The Community School, of Alpine School District, will pre-sent "Ichabod" a musical com-edy by William R.
